This is a permanent Full time role. Applications are invited for the role of Financial Accountant (Grade 6) working in the Finance Department of the National Maternity Hospital. This is a permanent role and the successful candidate will report to the Management Accountant (GVII) and will initially be responsible for: Documentation of Policies and Procedures To document and develop the Financial Policies and Procedures manual that will cover all relevant financial control areas. This will involve a review of current Finance systems in the hospital and liaising with other departments to document processes clearly. The Financial Accountant will ensure that processes are reviewed on a regular basis, that they are adhered to and remain compliant with Internal Audit recommendations and HSE Compliance Guidelines. Fixed Asset Register To develop, implement and document a system to record and manage the hospital's fixed assets in conjunction with existing systems maintained within other departments. All accounting entries should be in line with FRS102 requirements. You will provide training to the relevant users to maintain the system and data on an on-going basis. This project will involve the sourcing and recording of the historic data to bring the database records up to date and will require working with other departments to ensure the completeness of data collection. Advanced eFinancials To increase in-house knowledge of eFinancials, the hospital's financial management application, in order to improve the quality of management reporting and ensure best practice in the use of the system. You will work with the Financial Controller and Management Accountants to review the hospital general ledger to improve department reporting and to project-manage the upcoming systems upgrade to eFinancials V5. External & Internal Audit To provide assistance in enabling the smooth operation of the External & Internal Audit processes and to ensure that all recommendations post-Audit are implemented in a timely manner. Essential Criteria Recognised Accountancy Qualification At least 1 years' experience in internal controls & Procedures Preparation of final accounts from TB Proficient in the use of MS Office applications Preparation of Bank and other ledger Reconciliations Experience in dealing with Internal & External Auditors Experience in using Advanced eFinancials or other Oracle based Finance software Good presentation and report writing skills Communication & interpersonal skills with ability to liaise confidently with different levels of staff in the hospital. Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines Analytical approach with attention to detail IT Literate: Skills to include MS Office, particularly Excel. An ability to adapt to new IT Systems Organised with time management skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
