The Role Responsibilities

Advanced Analytics (AA) combines risk modelling with an understanding of risk decision making requirements to deliver metrics & quantitative analysis to improve business and risk management outcomes. The role will:
• Identify Problems & Advanced Analytics Solutions
• Develop and Implement Advanced Analytics
• Provide Input into Priorities across Enterprise Risk Analytics (ERA) to Support Advanced Analytics
• Perform Bespoke Tactical Risk Analysis for Senior Management

Identify Problems & Advanced Analytics Solutions
• Assess problem statements and propose solutions through data-driven analytics.
• Research, design, implement and validate cutting-edge analytics and data visualization techniques to realise targeted outcomes.

Development and Implementation:
Lead development and implementation of solutions by:
• Identifying existing data and models which can provide foundations for new analytics
• Defining enhancements or modifications of existing models, or alternative data to support solutions
• Contributing/leading development of sandbox/prototype solutions coordinating with other areas of ERA as appropriate, in modelling areas as established as credit risk and as new as climate change and reputational risk.
• Identify opportunities for solutions to be leveraged across businesses or functions to broaden their scope of use, improving the consistency and efficiency or risk analysis.

Provide Input into Priorities across ERA to Support AA
• Identify and propose opportunities to adjust Data, IT, or Model strategies/priorities to support AA, providing input into relevant prioritisation and decision-making processes.
• Provide challenge of model development proposals based on knowledge of problem statements.

Perform Bespoke Tactical Risk Analysis for Senior Management
• Develop tactical, bespoke analyses to address urgent risk management requirements from senior management.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize actionable, high-impact analytics opportunities.

People and Talent
• Lead, mentor and develop Advanced Analytics team members younger in their career trajectory.
• Uphold and reinforce the independence of the Advanced Analytics team from those whose incentives are to maximise short-term revenues and profits.

• Develop and maintain relationships with external alliance partners

Key Stakeholders
• Internal: Risk Finance and Compliance Management Team Members, data and systems implementation teams, Information Technology and Operations, SC Ventures, Business / Front Office
• External: Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and other key regulators, industry alliance partners

Our Ideal Candidate

• Aggregate 8+ years of experience in (i) banking/finance and (ii) predictive analytics / machine learning, with at least 2+ years' experience in each of the two.
• Strong degree in any discipline with substantial quantitative component (e.g. Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, Biostatistics, Meteorology, etc.).
• Expert in statistical and predictive modelling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms.
• Good hands-on experience with data manipulation, iterative learning and development cycles.
• Experience in providing innovative solutions to complex problems, change management, and working across diverse cultures in a rapidly changing environment; experience with managing people would be beneficial.
