CREDIT ADMINISTRATOR JOB SUMMARY: A leading company in retail home appliances, electronics and furniture in Barbados looking for a detail-oriented and equanimous Credit Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Company's hire purchase credit portfolio with a view towards minimizing bad debt losses, controlling account delinquencies and ensuring legal compliance. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Ensure company-wide compliance with the company's credit policies and procedures. Perform reference checks and employment verification for all hire purchase proposals. Review high value credit applications and other credit applications by exception i.e. those applications that are not automatically approved by the system or escalated for further review and determination. Ensure the arrears portfolio is closely monitored and delinquent accounts followed up to reduce the value of accounts in default to global benchmarks. Periodically review uncollectable balances and make recommendations for write offs or to take further action to recover. Identify and assign delinquent accounts to the debt collection provider for recovery. Apply payments to bailiff accounts and calculate commission payable to the debt collection provider. Prepare repossession and collection authorities for the debt collection provider. Complete default/judgement summons and take notices to the court and attend court hearings as necessary. Prepare and submit to management analysis and reports on the performance of the debt portfolio and make recommendations as required. Maintain accurate and complete documentation as it pertains to all credit transactions. Prepare and issue any credit related customer correspondence including but not limited to statements and payment receipts. Providing training on credit risk management and credit policy to the sales team. Comply with company processes and policies. Perform other related duties as may be required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of (3) years commercial or retail credit experience at a supervisory level Bachelor of Science, Associate Degree or Diploma in Accounts / Finance Possession of, or enrollment in, a professional accounting or banking designation with a recognized professional body would be considered an asset KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Personal financial planning skills Credit analysis techniques Strong computer literacy; competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel Ability to understand and interpret financial statements Strong analytical and communication skills Ability to work well under pressure and independently High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information Ability to interact well with customers, management and sales team Only successful applicants will be acknowledged
