Job Description:

At Grant Thornton we're driven by a purpose of building a vibrant economy, based on trust and integrity in markets, dynamic businesses, and communities where businesses and people thrive. We’ve created our own unique culture – one that offers the opportunities of a major organisation in a personal, close-knit environment and that's built around shared enterprise.

Our FS Tax team works across Banking, Insurance, Investment Management, Private Equity and funds markets. You will have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of clients taking ownership over these relationships and the delivery of tax technical work.

Our clients

  • Our clients span the breadth of the financial services sector, to include banking, insurance, fund, private equity and other investment clients
  • We have a fast growing financial services advisory practice, as well as a strong financial services audit practice, which creates exciting opportunities for future growth
  • Across these clients, we provide a range of both tax advisory and compliance services
  • We are looking for a candidate who
  • Can build a rapport with our clients and develop a clear and detailed understanding of the business and client expectations.
  • Writes high quality tax reports, professionally presented documents, requiring minimal input from directors or partners.

Who we're looking for:

  • You will have a genuine interest in your clients. We want to provide a distinctive service and unlock potential for growth in dynamic financial services organisations.
  • You will know that what you do matters. As an organisation we want to be known for how we do business, not simply what we do. So, we need people who know that every act matters from the simple things to the insights we bring to clients.
  • You will seize opportunities. We want to adapt quickly and wisely to changing conditions to optimise growth for both our clients and ourselves.
  • You will apply critical reasoning to bring clarity and insight. We do it by asking great questions, listening and drawing on our collective knowledge and experience to really help others grow.
  • We are looking for a candidate who wants to progress quickly in a fast growing financial services practice. There are excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate.

Technical skills

  • Financial services taxation covers a range of disciplines. We realise that many skilled practitioners may have a particular focus in one area, for example the funds sector, and less focus on other areas.
  • As we are a growing financial services practice, we are seeking experienced professionals across all areas of financial services taxation, with the opportunity to specialize in your area of expertise while also having the opportunity to expand your knowledge base across other areas.
  • We are looking for individuals with strong technical knowledge and an ability to communicate that knowledge in a coherent fashion. We are also looking for individuals who are solution driven.
  • Whether you have developed your skills in practice or in industry is not critical but we would expect all candidates to have spent time in a professional services firm environment.

Business Development:

  • Joining the Grant Thornton financial services tax team offers a great opportunity to leverage and enhance your business development skills.
  • We consider strong technical tax knowledge as a key asset in developing our business. We also expect successful candidates to work together as part of a wider financial services team, with tremendous opportunities for growth.

Education, experience and qualifications:

  • You will be professionally qualified (ITI, ACA, ACCA or CTA)
  • You will have prior experience of working in a financial services tax environment
  • You will be comfortable managing client engagements and portfolios
  • You will have 6 years’ experience required
