My client is one of the largest catering companies in the UK and was recently acquired by a listed US entity. They are going through a massive growth trajectory right now so it's an exciting time to join the business.
Client Details
The Group Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for driving the group technical accounting agenda across Europe. This will include researching new accounting standards, assessing their impact under both IFRS and US GAAP and implementing and maintaining processes to correctly report under them going forward.
Based in Covent Garden/Ashford, the role will report into the Head of Group Reporting & Projects and will be the main point of contact for all technical accounting queries across Europe.
The role will be responsible for one direct report, the Group Technical Accounting Analyst. Their primary focus will be on the roll out of the new procedures and controls in relation to the implementation of the new leasing accounting standard. Once this new process has been embedded, their role will be fully engaged with supporting the Group Technical Accounting Manager with other technical accounting projects across Europe.
Description
- Evaluate the impact of the new financial reporting requirements and design implementation plans across the European entities.
- Over-see the establishment of the European Group Centre of Excellence for lease accounting (under both IFRS and US GAAP) and provide guidance to the Technical Accounting Analyst.
- Prepare quarterly and annual Accounting Research Memoranda on complex accounting topics and present the findings and conclusions to the Corporate Financial Reporting Team in the US and external auditors.
- Manage, enhance and develop the European Finance Manual, ensuring consistency with the US and rolling out across Europe.
- Manage and report on the treatment of exceptional costs across Europe.
- Month end review of data submissions to ensure compliance with the new IFRSs (particularly IFRS9, 15 &16).
- Assist the reporting team with accounting for new acquisitions and group restructuring.
- Provide technical accounting support with regards to preparation of UK statutory financial statements. Assist with Auditor queries on any technical accounting matters.
- Review pension and derivative valuations at quarter/year end.
- Prepare of quarterly USGAAP/IFRS checklist for submission to Auditors/US.
- Provide ad-hoc technical support to Finance teams across Europe.
- Lead ad-hoc technical accounting projects.
Profile
- Top-tier practice trained ACA (or equivalent)
- Strong IFRS knowledge essential.
- USGAAP experience beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
- Very high level of accuracy & attention to detail required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
