Finance Business Partner
Band 3: £38,324 to £47,122
Bootle, Merseyside
From management accounting to supporting corporate change:
We’ll give you the opportunity to use your skills to the full.
The challenge
A fast-evolving public corporation, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is committed to shaping the future of regulation in the UK nuclear industry. As our organisation continues to change and advance, we need a qualified Accountant to support our progress in a broad and interesting role.
The role
As Finance Business Partner you’ll be in a key position, providing vital financial information as well as expert guidance. It’s an outstanding opportunity to take on a varied remit, ranging from management accounting to hands-on support and advice.
Acting as a trusted advisor for finance and non-finance colleagues, you’ll help with budgets, decisions and financial evaluations. Our senior managers will be looking to you for insightful management information, so clear, precise reports will be essential. With so many different teams relying on your expertise, your influence will be felt across the organisation. It’s therefore important that you can present information clearly and build strong working relationships, both within ONR and with external contacts.
Another aspect of this exciting role is playing your part in day-to-day operations: budgeting, forecasting and month-end closure and reporting. You’ll also provide investment appraisal, analyse key business drivers and develop KPIs, so that we have the data we need to achieve far-reaching corporate change.
The person
CCAB-qualified, you’ll have the talent and confidence to make an impact from day one. You’ll bring proven core management accounting skills including budgeting and financial reporting. You could have gained this expertise within or outside the public sector – but whatever your background, you’ll have the motivation to provide a high quality service.
Adept at financial modelling, investment appraisal and financial reporting, you’ll be highly IT literate and an advanced Excel user. You also have the communication skills to connect with others and supervise junior finance professionals.
The rewards
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £38,324 to £47,122. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a very generous holiday entitlement.
About us
ONR is a Public Corporation created to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our inspectors are drawn from all manner of professional backgrounds including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases to planned security inspections to the development and implementation of a new domestic safeguards regime.
