The Company

A private investment focused Family Office with offices Overseas and London. They Invest capital across the risk spectrum, indirectly, directly and through partnerships into opportunities which can deliver long term value growth.

The Role

An upcoming liquidity event will drive significant growth in the Families assets under management in 2019 to >$1Bn. Across the Group complexity will multiply with private investment vehicles and charities existing or in the process of being created in the USA, UK, Australia and the Far East. These will hold quoted investments, LP positions, direct company investments, operating company positions as well as land and other property assets.

The role is for a Head of Finance & Reporting to join the team. The focus of the successful candidate will be to build the global reporting infrastructure for the Group. They will be responsible for all aspects of performance reporting for the investments directly managed by the London office and for consolidating this and the information provided by worldwide third-party managers and the Overseas office’s so clarity of the overall picture can be provided to the governing board and other committees which take a global view of the Group’s holdings. In addition, they will be responsible for putting in place and managing group budgets, the employee long term incentive plans and other intra-group relationships such as arms’ length contractual relationships where tax and regulatory complexity must be carefully considered.

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and producing key reporting outputs for a variety of audiences to provide the right lens for key decisions and oversight including manager performance, asset allocation and risk concentration by asset class, geography and currency
  • Project managing the implementation by a third party of robust "plumbing" to integrate performance across a range of different vehicles, custodians and asset classes
  • Managing a team of one management accountant with the potential to manage expansion as required;
  • Managing the on-going quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting cycle
  • Putting in place the LTI and intra-group agreements
  • Integration of performance reporting with audited accounts of key investment vehicles

The candidate is likely to have:
  • ACA or ACCA qualified accountant
  • Experience in performance reporting or other investment reporting function within a single/multi-family office, endowment, private bank or private investment fund. Particularly important is that the candidate is comfortable/has experience reporting on range of quoted and unquoted assets
  • Project management skills are valuable given implementation requirements and regular reporting cycle
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to manage and work through complexity to represent financial information in simple digestible formats
  • Experience of FCA compliance and international personal tax complexity helpful but not essential
  • Ability to thrive in a small and entrepreneurial environment where independent working and a willingness to "roll up the sleeves" is key
