Description

• Full understanding and responsibility of the rolling margin process for stock accounting and taking necessary action to ensure its robustness, while ensuring the overall control processes in place are effective and efficient

• Manage the rolling margin process with regular reviews with HQ Trading and Commercial teams ensuring variances are understood and providing enabling support to the margin forecast process

• Responsibility for stock-loss provisioning and deferral accounting

• Facilitate the move to a simplified cost accounting process and fully contribute with the project group to realise the benefits and subsequent new ways of working

• Deliver value added analysis, insight and business performance improvement to support in driving the group's profitability

• Develop strong relationships with management team stakeholders

• Partner the Technology teams to deliver new Systems functionality in a robust and controlled manner with appropriate controls and testing

• Focal point for day to day service provision to the business areas management team, self-managing his or her workload and often working independently

• Uphold a continuous improvement mindset and seeking opportunities to drive positive change in finance and/or business processes to improve efficiency, maximise value for money and improve stakeholder experience

• Work collaboratively with business area and other cross-functional teams

• Support the Director of Accounting and Shared Services to coach and develop all local based finance division colleagues with team management responsibility

Profile

• Finance Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Direct experience of accounting for stock
• Highly numerate and analytical
• High degree of financial modelling, planning and forecasting techniques experience
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability and confidence to influence
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
