Deputy Chief Accountant
Grade J: £36,153 - £39,961 per annum
Post No: RF289 - 37 Hours per week
Cannock Chase and Stafford Borough Councils’ shared finance service is seeking a qualified accountant. This exciting opportunity offers the successful applicant a chance to be part of an innovative shared finance service working across two neighbouring local authorities.
You will be expected to assist the Chief Accountant in leading the provision of accountancy services for both Cannock Chase District and Stafford Borough Council’s General Fund Services (including revenue and capital), preparing associated reports to the Leadership Team and members, preparing the statutory accounts and liaising with the external audit team. A knowledge and understanding of Local Authority accounting is therefore essential.
CCAB qualified; you will have previous experience of budget setting, budget monitoring, closure of accounts and Capital accounts along with the ability to provide professionally sound financial information both verbally and in writing to Officers and Members of the Council.
Previous experience of operating in a lead role in budget setting and closure of accounts along with a CIPFA qualification would also be desirable.
In addition, you should have IT skills sufficient to create and amend documents using Microsoft Office packages such as Work and Excel.
A Standard DBS Disclosure will be required for this post.
