SUMMARY

The Real Estate Accountant is responsible for managing accounting functions, including cash management, payroll accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, consolidation and reporting. This position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP, company policies and guidelines, as well as internal controls. This role will provide support to the Director of Accounting and other operational leaders as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

?? Responsible for the U.S. GAAP general ledgers, consolidation and reporting for company's portfolio

?? Perform all aspects of month/quarter/year–end closes, prepare monthly reporting packages and quarterly reporting schedules

?? Prepare monthly consolidated trial balance, quarterly consolidated financial statements, monthly account reconciliations and other financial schedules as needed

?? Record intercompany transactions, confirm balances and coordinate information with intercompany counterparts, prepare and process quarterly cash settlements

?? Prepare ad hoc IRS filings, business and property tax filings and governmental data surveys and ensure timely submissions with local and federal agencies

?? Perform ad hoc projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

?? Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting

?? 3–5 years of experience in corporate accounting is preferred

?? Yardi Voyager and/or Genesis2 experience is preferred

?? Exposure to operational accounting/systems, i.e. accounts payable/receivable and inventory a plus

?? CPA or prior Big 4 public accounting experience a plus

?? Solid technical understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and apply accounting treatment for non–standard transactions

?? Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word

?? Strong project management skills with a focus on organization, attention to detail and ability to multitask under tight time constraints, while providing timely, effective and accurate deliverables

?? Ability to navigate through various levels of detail, demonstrating flexibility to dive into details as well as think big picture
