Financial Accounting and Advisory Services- Senior Financial Accountant

The FAAS team are a group of proactive accounting specialists who are focused on providing practical solutions to our clients’ complex financial reporting issues. Our ‘on call’ ethos means we are able to respond quickly to fast moving business processes and timelines – whether assisting with advice related to transactions or working to tight financial close deadlines.

With the aim of providing solutions to accounting challenges in global finance functions, the FAAS team go to market across 4 proposition areas:

1. Global Compliance and Reporting

  • SSC model – multi jurisdictional
  • Statutory account
  • Statutory audits
  • Payroll
  • Compliance tax
  • One point of contact

2. Accounting Advisory

  • GAAP conversion
  • Complex financial instruments
  • Legal entity simplification
  • Transaction accounting

3. Effective Financial Reporting

  • Close process improvement
  • Transition management
  • Remediation
  • Interim staffing

4. Business Process Outsourcing

  • Controllership
  • Reconciliation
  • Remediation projects
  • Transaction processing

This role will suit an ambitious motivated person who is willing and interested in getting involved with helping the team. It involves working closely with Partners and other senior personnel within Grant Thornton but also with key people from our multinational client base.

Main responsibilities:

  • Month-end close, in accordance with agreed deadlines
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities in accordance with US GAAP and local GAAP for select international entities
  • Income statement and balance sheet review, including variance analysis
  • Reconciliation between US GAAP and local GAAP accounting and own the local stat audits for relevant entities
  • Working with clients to optimize several business functions, this may include projects relating to the financial statement process, review and remediation of business processes and short term interim staffing assignments working within a team environment to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data
  • Assisting on various ad hoc projects as required by the client
  • Stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships with client representatives
  • Liaising with auditors
  • Promoting FAAS both internally and externally.

Skills and attributes:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent IFAC qualification
  • proficient accountant, with strong knowledge of IFRS & US GAAP and strong knowledge of Irish GAAP
  • strong understanding of regulatory requirements desirable
  • strong computer skills – advanced knowledge of Microsoft office;
  • excellent attention to detail and resolves issues as they arise;
  • strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
  • ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments (US GAAP, SOX);
  • ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Interest in improving processes through Technology
  • SAP or alternative ERP experience – desirable
  • Experience in Multinational environment – desirable
