Becoming an Internal Audit Manager with DCC Smart Metering:

Location – Preston Brook (Regular travel to other DCC sites would be required)

The successful candidate will work with the Head of Internal Audit and Controls and the Controls and Compliance team to develop an effective internal audit capability, including the scoping, definition, delivery and completion of audits as agreed with the DCC Executive Committee and Audit Committee, and using internal or external resource (e.g. specialist audit consultancy) as required.

What you will do:

Audit:

  • Develop and deliver an annual risk–based audit plan, and ad hoc audit or control related projects as required
  • Bring a systematic, scalable, and disciplined audit approach to evaluating and identifying improvements to the performance and effectiveness of DCC capabilities, processes and operations
  • Provide proactive advice to the business on performance, efficiency and controls to support continuous improvement in business performance and risk management
  • Monitor and track audit findings and their remediation.

Reporting:

  • Produce clear and concise audit reports, including an annual Internal Audit Service report.
  • Produce MI and KPI's for the Internal Audit Service and Compliance function.

Thought Leadership:

  • Promote good governance, risk management and controls across the business.
  • Identify risk and opportunities for improvements within the role, function and business that can deliver long–term positive returns for the business.
  • Liaison with stakeholders (including external auditors, and Group internal audit).
  • Other ad hoc requirements as required.

Your experience will include:

  • A relevant qualification (eg Internal Audit Qualification) or qualified by experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an audit or consultancy role
  • Effective communication skills with experience of dealing with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills, and ability to communicate with impact
  • Experience of operational and/or programmatic audits
  • Enjoys a changing environment and working cross–functionally

  • Effective communicator – both written and spoken
  • Enjoys a changing environment and working cross–functionally
  • Excellent at building and managing working relationships
  • Appetite for working with complexity, yet maintaining a focus on producing simple, evidence–based analysis and solutions.
