Ensuring risk management frameworks, strategies, systems and reports are relevant to emerging risks for this leading NSW Government department.
The primary objective of the Enterprise Risk Manager, Performance is to ensure that enterprise risk management frameworks, strategies, systems and reports are relevant to current and emerging risks, considering this NSW Government departments risk profile as well as current legislative and non-legislative requirements. This role will be the subject matter expert in enterprise risk management framework, systems and reporting.
Key accountabilities
Enterprise Risk Management Framework - Manage the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk framework, including standards and processes. In conjunction with relevant managers, review and support mechanisms within divisions/project delivery offices to align with the enterprise risk management framework and ensure identification, assessment, documentation and mitigation processes are applied, as specified by the enterprise risk management framework.
Enterprise Risk Management Plan - Support the development of an enterprise risk management plan and monitor its implementation to ensure all activities are undertaken within the agreed timeframes
Reporting - Provide the Executive and the Principal Manager, Risk with assurance and visibility of key risks. Coordinate the production of risk reports for senior management, containing an analysis of risk trends (internally and externally) based on data from the Risk Management Information System/Risk dashboards and other sources. Prepare and present reports to management, key committees and other relevant stakeholders.
Systems - administer, maintain and manage system/s to enable effective enterprise risk management. In conjunction with IT and consultation with the business, lead the identification and delivery of continuous improvements, system integration and automation for the business.
Compliance - ensure all elements of the framework and reporting systems meet the requirements of the department.
Change Leadership - promote change through the provision of data, risk intelligence, guidance and support which supports both the business objectives of the department and the development of enterprise risk strategies, programs and initiatives. Inspire and motivate divisional teams, driving maturity to support in the effective management of risks and opportunities. Lead and/or work collaboratively - with other divisions, operating agencies and stakeholder groups to allow effective communication and exchange of information in order to support the effective management of enterprise risks. Represent the Branch at external forums as required.
Capability - Enhance arrangements & capabilities for identifying enterprise risks; developing and applying risk appetite and tolerance statements and escalation thresholds; and for linking corporate and business strategies with opportunities and risks across Transport for NSW
Key challenges
Improving knowledge and capability of enterprise risk management policies, practices, standards and systems and ensuring that they are known, understood, integrated, applied and used.
Reviewing and understanding of enterprise risk to the business and the exercise of judgement in the analysis of these risks to ensure appropriate identification, assessment and mitigation is being undertaken.
Maintaining knowledge of legislation and contemporary trends, government directions and developments relating to enterprise risk management.
