Division Description

The Finance & Accounting Division is made up of a number of core finance teams both at business unit and Group level. We perform a key management and control function in ensuring all Group financial and management reporting processes are appropriately governed. The Finance Division has overall responsibility for driving the Group budgeting and forecasting process, developing Group-focused financial insight and analysis and delivering the Group`s statutory, regulatory and external reporting. We do this through collaborative business partnering in each of the Divisions and with centralised Finance shared / specialist services.

 

Description of business unit

Group Tax is responsible for managing and planning all of the Group`s tax affairs, supporting business units with all tax related issues, managing the Group`s relationship with relevant tax authorities and ensuring that the group is compliant with tax rules in all jurisdictions where we operate.

 

Purpose of the Role

The overall aim of this role is to use your IT and systems knowledge to work closely with the tax manager(s) to ensure VAT compliance. In addition there are a number of specific indirect tax projects arising which will require a significant contribution from you. The role will enable the holder become more familiar with a broad range of tax topics as well as providing the opportunity to develop core competencies including communicating with multiple stakeholders and participating in projects.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Own and manage the indirect tax compliance process to ensure filing deadlines are met
  • Communicating with various stakeholders across the Group to collate figures and ensure that information received by Group Tax is accurate and timely.
  • Use IT skills and systems knowledge to streamline current VAT processes and identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the VAT compliance processes
  • Enhance and maintain procedures documents in respect of VAT compliance
  • Complete work in accordance with all Group and business unit policies, procedures, standards and controls.

This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work with dynamic tax professionals to develop and execute tax based assignments and work with many stakeholders across the group to provide tax advice and support. It will provide the individual with an excellent opportunity to develop and expand their knowledge of tax in the context of financial services.

 

Essential Qualifications

Qualified tax consultant with experience of working in the VAT department of a Big 4 or large financial institution

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of SAP and BCS
  • High level of IT proficiency including Excel
  • Analytical and numerical skills
  • Ability to manage assigned workload and competing priorities to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

 

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of Access
  • Qualified accountant
