What you'll do

Restructuring works with corporate and commercial customers who are struggling to meet their credit obligations, with the principal aim of protecting the bank's capital. Wherever possible we do that by supporting their return to financial health; where that's not possible, we recover capital in a way that is both efficient and fair to the customer.

As Regional Director you'll develop and act as a role model to a team of dedicated relationship managers, providing expert restructuring knowledge and supporting them in delivering solutions for our customers. The customer base under your leadership will include a range of smaller family businesses, private and influential regional corporate customers who bank with our Commercial & Private Banking franchise. Relationship building will be hugely important to your success in the role. You will need to build trust with customers and deliver difficult messages with sensitivity. You will also need to forge excellent relationships with colleagues in the front line and in Credit Risk.

Key aspects of your role will include:
  • Driving case progress to reach a fair outcome in good time, rehabilitating customers with problem debt
  • Role modelling a consultative and collaborative approach to developing and delivering restructuring solutions
  • Applying clear pricing principles that are simple and transparent
  • Managing the bank's capital and RWAs effectively and with care

The skills you'll need

This role would suit you if you have extensive experience in a corporate finance or restructuring environment, and have a history of working with a broad range of UK customers facing financial difficulty. You will have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills that allow you to do lead a resilient and dedicated team who handle our customers. You'll also have a strong commercial acumen, being able to interpret complex financial information and identify key issues within a business.

You'll also bring:
  • A good understanding of risk management, conduct risk and insolvency processes
  • Strong negotiation skills, with knowledge of tools and techniques
  • Proven experience of successfully managing, guiding and developing people
  • An understanding of the wider economic, regulatory and commercial environment, and of issues affecting the bank and its customers
