Mission

Main Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:

Norms, Advisory and Control (NAC) team within Finance (DFIN) department is a group of accounting, regulatory and assurance experts that uphold Société Générale (SG) Group's accounting & regulatory standards and independently supervise effectiveness of controls framework. NAC strategically act as 'Second Line of Defence' (Level 2) in DFIN which fulfils the Group's regulator requirement.

This role bases in Hong Kong, regional hub of Asia Pac, which also has a team of NAC with the regional finance team. The successful candidate exposes to variety of SG business in the region (e.g. corporate & investment banking, brokerage, global transaction banking) and acts as interlocutors with senior managers and management on different subjects.

The primary responsibilities of this controller include:


1. Participate in the risk assessment for regional regulatory reporting



- Participate in risk assessment of both local reports produced in Asia Pacific and contribution from Asia Pacific of main group regulatory reporting metrics
- Perform risk assessment of the controls inventory for regulatory topics required for implementation of the spotcheck framework
- Liaise with Business Unit and Accounting Control team around the globe
- Involvement in developing and re-engineering existing risk assessment processes through exposure to various key regulatory missions

2. Conduct regional regulatory reporting spot check

- Liaise with relevant parties at the bank regarding control testing ('Spot Check') roadmap that mitigate regulatory risk to tolerable level and explain to relevant parties on the rationale and tasks to be performed
- Work out the sampling methodology and document the basis of selection for spot check
- Conduct Spot Check on risky regulatory reporting controls and processes (by means of walkthrough, reperformance and sample testing) to give an opinion on the quality of control design and performance
- Summarize the spotcheck findings through proper documentation of the methodology and work done, and prepare draft summary report at a regional view
- Participate in providing improvement recommendation on any ineffective control and the action plan accordingly
- Regularly update on regional spot check roadmap status (by KPI dashboard) & regulatory risk alerts to the team

3. Ad hoc projects

- Liaise with other relevant parties on various regulatory related projects including but not limited to
remediation roadmap, target operation models, etc.
- Actively involve in various regulatory related projects (IRRBB, liquidity etc.) to support the ongoing development of the local and group regulatory reporting requirements

Profile

Key Skills and Knowledge Required

  • University graduate in Accounting, Finance or Business school
  • At least 5 years of previous work experience or knowledge in regulatory reporting or regulatory advisory
  • projects or closely related industry experience in internal Audit, Risk or Finance of the financial institution
  • Knowledge of banking and securities regulations in HK and Singapore is a must (other Asia Pacific regions
  • are an advantage)
  • Relevant governance, audit, control, and project experience, specifically in areas of accounting, risk
  • management, and finance in the financial institution
  • CPA, FRM candidates are preferred
  • Ability to work in transformational project is a key
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written
  • Highly motivated and team player
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint with knowledge in VBA an advantage
  • Knowledge of new digital technology/ data visualization tools an advantage
  • Multiple language skills are an advantage
