PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position primarily involves providing corporate action support to the Portfolio Management teams in London and Chicago for Northern Trust Asset Management.
• To be responsible for the collection, verification and processing of corporate action related entitlements in an accurate timely manner. Dealing with queries promptly and efficiently, documenting and following established procedures and processes in order to maintain efficiency, minimise risk and provide an excellent client service (whether internal or external).
• To provide input for definition of team objectives and to participate in their completion.
• To monitor the work of more junior or inexperienced members of the team, signing off on completed work, training and coaching.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and approve issues via the Investment Management corporate action system.
• Ensure that the team effectively and accurately keeps portfolio managers advised of all event details at all times.
• Approve instructions for voluntary issues, for onward transmission to the custodians.
• Utilise custodian on line systems both for corporate action information and instructions.
• Oversight of all reconciliation breaks to ensure that they are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
• Supervision of the team to ensure that all daily and ad hoc processes are completed to a high standard
• Maintain Data for collation and provision of MIS
• Actively participate in team discussions and make suggestions that lead to quality, resource and target orientated improvements.
• Maintain documented procedures to ensure team compliance with industry regulation and best practice.
• Participation in projects at both section and bank level

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED


• Global Corporate Actions experience essential.
• Strong client relationship skills
• Communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels, from other teams, peer group and management.
• Organizational skills
• Accuracy
• PC Literate.
• Demonstrate strong time management skills and the ability to balance the demands made by a change in circumstances, with the on-going job requirements.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Take responsibility for own actions and recognises the impact on others and the business.
• Self motivated and pro active.
• Ability to take initiative.
• Ability to effectively handle deadlines.
• Ability to manage expectations to reporting lines, portfolio management teams and custodians.
• Project skills preferable
