Job Level: Accountant Level 1 or 2
Location: Jersey & Luxembourg
Reports to: Senior Fund Accountant \ Assistant Manager
Job summary: The Fund Accountant will be primarily responsible for all aspects of day-to-day accounting for one or more assigned structures. You will work closely with more senior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ownership of bookkeeping transactions and maintenance and of accounting records for multiple client entities;
2. Prepare timely and accurate accounting output for subsequent review by the senior members of the team or client;
3. Preparing monthly/quarterly reconciliations of management accounts β promptly researching and correcting any variances;
4. Preparing interim and annual statutory accounts in line with appropriate accounting standards;
5. Liaising and responding to clients, and third parties and ensuring client and third party request or queries are dealt with appropriately;
6. Escalating identified issues or concerns appropriately and in a timely manner;
7. Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures;
8. Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met;
9. Preparation of routine and ad-hoc management reports
At Level 2 - in addition to the above:
1. Proactively identify exceptions and problems affecting accounting records, communicating same to management, and assisting in their resolution;
2. Assist senior members in reviewing deliverables prepared by one or more Trainee Fund Accountants;
3. Support superiors to set up complex bookkeeping from incorporation;
4. Coach and supervise the workload of one or more Trainee Fund Accountants;
5. Prior exposure to working with bookkeeping up to trial balance and or financial statements
6. Ability to multi-task whilst maintaining careful attention to detail;
7. Ability to read and understand structure papers and legal agreements which will be used to prepare accounts/trial balance;
8. Part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent);
Essential skills / experience:
1. Strong academic background (Degree qualified);
2. Team player with positive attitude;
3. Proactive and self motivated;
4. Strong communication skills, organised, flexible and keen to learn;
5. Analytical with high level of attention to detail;

6. Able to work independently, under pressure and to deadlines;
7. Competent user of IT; proficient skills in Excel and outlook;
8. Being able to thoroughly explain structures and transactions;
At Level 2 - in addition to the above:

Desirable skills / experience:
1. Technical knowledge of Funds and financial services legislation and regulations;
2. Knowledge FRS, FRS and US GAAP;
At Level 2 - in addition to the above:
1. Private equity accounting experience;
2. Experience using Investran system;
3. Coaching experience;
