APRA is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic leader to join our Specialised Institutions Division (SID) in Melbourne.
SID is responsible for the prudential supervision of functionally specialised institutions, including smaller urban and regional financial institutions, general, life and private health insurers and superannuation firms.
As a Manager, you will lead a team of professionals who undertake prudential supervision and risk assessment assignments across a defined group of supervised organisations in order to achieve the government and APRA's objective of providing a prudentially sound financial system. This role will predominantly be working on the supervision of entities within the superannuation / friendly societies industry.
In this role you will:
Lead and develop staff through a range of financial analysis and other supervisory skills to support high-quality analysis and risk assessment
Model inclusive leadership behaviours and instilling an open culture within the team, where divergent views are shared and respected
Monitor institutions to identify critical developments which could lead to serious economic issues, and raising these concerns
Assess institutions' management, strategies, practices and systems and make recommendations of improvement
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the supervised institutions monitored by the team
Present supervision findings to senior management with the supervised institutions
Liaise with industry groups and associations to ensure they are across regulatory standards

To be successful you will have experience in the superannuation industry and strong people management skills. You will have demonstrated experience in managing the development and implementation of regulatory standards and maintain up to date knowledge of financial market trends and the legislative environment. The ability to engage with senior stakeholders both internally and externally to discuss industry and regulatory issues will be essential as well as positive mindset and an energetic approach to problem solving with a willingness to offer new ideas and a fresh perspective. Qualifications in a Finance-related disciplines are highly regarded.
