Mission

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Tasks

  • Assisting the Head of Legal and the China Legal Team in managing the GBIS business in China, especially the CTY, IFD, FIC, TCF and other MARK related business, including but not limited to:


- Negotiating and coordinating the legal and documentary aspects of the onboarding process for OTC derivative, repo and stock lending master and collateral agreements (i.e. SAC Master Agreement, NAFMII master agreements, etc) in China
- Providing legal advice and guidance for launching new products and BAU activities
- Developing, reviewing and updating template documents for business needs
- Providing regular training to business lines and the relevant support functions
- Working with the Head of Legal to develop and implement legal policies, guidelines and procedures, and to maintain permanent supervision within legal department
- Advising colleagues working at foreign offices or other functions in relation to PRC law
- Assisting colleagues from other offices with cross-border related transactions
- Maintaining accurate records of master agreements both executed and under negotiation
- Keeping abreast of legal issues and developments on master documentation in various legal jurisdictions in Asia-Pacific (mainly China); and
- Acting as regional master agreement know-how expert

  • Working on any other projects assigned by the Head of Legal
  • Participating in meetings and committees as instructed by the Head of Legal, including the new products committee


Profile

Working Experience / Technical Skills & Know how

  • Legally qualified in the PRC with approximately 8 years' experience in major banks as legal counsel or in reputable law firms (corporate or banking teams). Experience in negotiating master agreement is essential


Skills & Competencies

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, integrity, ability to work independently and strong team spirit


Language Skills

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin. Ability to draft legal documentation in both Chinese and English


Computer Skill

  • Microsoft applications
