It plans to be the national network that connects schools and colleges, as well as, employers and careers programme providers to create high-impact careers opportunities for young people. Our client is building a national network in collaboration with Local Enterprise. The Financial Controller post is a key role at a pivotal time for the organisation.
Description
- Manage a team of two
- Implement and deliver the Company's long-term funding strategy and be accountable for the management of the Company's day to day funding needs.
- Support the CFO and work in partnership with the Senior Leadership team to generate financial plans, budgets and forecasts and identifying key financial risks and key performance measures.
- Develop a Budget Management Framework to support performance management in the business
- Monitor performance against approved plans and identify actions to resolve issues and ensure delivery on budget.
- Take responsibility for the Company's internal control environment, compliance and ensure rigour in all financial transactions.
- Develop and ensure compliance to the Company's financial policies and processes and we lead with a model of best practice in the sector.
- Oversee all Company financial reports, including to the Board and to funding sponsors and preparation of the annual accounts.
- Identify gaps with process and procedures with finance and drive continuous improvement
- Manage the Company's regulatory requirements and obligations as a Community Interest Company including external audit.
- Develop, deliver and lead the Company's approach to risk management.

Profile
- Fully qualified accountant with a proven background in managing finance function in a fast-paced and start up environment.
- Substantial relevant work experience within the public/private or voluntary sector and knowledge of business operational processes.
- Previous experience of running a finance function including payroll, VAT, expense management, payments and annual accounts preparation, adhering to best practise controls and processes.
- Significant experience of preparation of management and annual accounts, business analysis and management information and the development, maintenance and monitoring of management information systems and procedures.
- Proven track record in implementing financial controls within an organisation
