Description

The role will be;

  • Responsible for providing lead finance support for a number of defined acute contracts.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager in the reporting of financial performance against contracts Including
  • Identifying cost pressures and financial risks, forecasting spend and working with commissioning managers to take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Hold regular meetings with budget holders to discuss financial performance, identifying areas of concern, providing challenge and advice, ensuring strong financial management and control.
  • Responsible for the financial management of non-contracted activity spend. Working with the team to validate costs, produce robust forecasts and ensure any disputes are raised or escalated appropriately.
  • Monthly financial monitoring of various acute contracts including month end reporting, the production of working papers, variance analysis, forecasting and journal input into the general ledger.
  • Undertake financial analysis and investigation to support understanding of the financial position relating to the individual contracts and budgets.
  • Design, create and manipulate spreadsheets for monitoring and analyzing a range of complex financial information, to monitor trends and to calculate and forecast future income, expenditure and cash requirements.
  • Contribute to annual planning and budget setting by modelling and calculating financial requirements.
  • Provide finance input and support to contract negotiations, ensuring proposals are tested for affordability and value for money.
  • Participate in the provision of financial training as required for all budget holders and train non-financial managers in understanding budget statements.Participate in the production of statutory and other externally required reports and returns, including Programme Budgeting.
  • Provide costing information and analysis to support financial monitoring and control of commissioning projects.
  • Working with the quality team to calculate financial values paid for achievement under Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) schemes.
  • Support the production of business cases as required including the evaluation of the financial implications of proposed service options.
  • Deputise for the Senior Finance Manager as required.

Profile

The successful Finance Manager will be AAT Qualified or studying CIMA/CCAB. NHS experience would be beneficial as well as managing an accountancy team

Job Offer

A salary of up to £36,000 is on offer to the successful candidate depending on experience. This is a permanent role based in Bath
