Key Accountabilities • Ensures that all financial reports are prepared and submitted to department management, corporate management and governmental agencies, as required • Administers the accounting system to maintain records for the business unit • Identifies opportunities and solutions to support business strategies • Works closely with divisions throughout business to ensure accounting implications of operating decisions are considered • Manages a team of about 50 colleagues that provides accounting, control, policy and reporting for the organization/key external agencies • Has significant contact with external customers, with primary relationship responsibilities with bank regulators and external auditors • Has authority over department staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations Stakeholder Management and Leadership • Lead, recruit, develop and motivate a high performance team • Lead, coach, retain talent and ensure robust succession planning is in place • Be an effective member of the Finance leadership team and be a role model for colleagues • Develop key relationships with stakeholders across the organization to influence strategy, decision making and manage deliverables supporting CEO, CFO, Exfo and other Central Finance and Support teams • Continuously improve relevant business processes and practices, working alongside peers to implement and maintain a philosophy of high performance and constant drive for excellence Decision-making and Problem Solving • Advises internal clients in a consultative manner and be recognized as the accounting expert for the business unit • Interfaces with multiple leadership levels throughout the company, from first-line business managers through senior officers and cluster senior leadership • Provides concise overviews to BBDE Senior Management team (Exfo) for each period as well as longer-range views to support sound decision making Risk and Control Objective Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards. Person Specification Basic Qualifications/Skills: • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting • CPA • 10 years of relevant experience working with Deposit and Consumer Lending products • 3 years of experience supervising a team Preferred Qualifications/Skills: • MBA • Results oriented with the ability to bring closure to issues by working with individuals across the organization • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills • Superior financial problem solving, analytical, communication, and leadership skills demonstrating an understanding of the key financial drivers of the company • Result-driven with a commitment to continuous process improvement and quality This is a highly visible and critical position that is responsible for directing the accounting and control functions for our client's business lines in Wilmington, DE. This includes overseeing the preparation of financial statements, regulatory reporting, financial control, month end close, accounts payable, partner compensation and accounting policy. This role provides strategic vision for the department to keep pace with company growth and challenges, and it provides perspective on strategic direction and control.
