Business Analyst
6 Month Contract
London, Farringdon
The overall purpose of the role is to support the launch of new
Insurance products in the Business, Pet Insurance and Travel Insurance
sectors. Working with teams across the business to define new
operational and system requirements, and working with internal and
external teams to implement new systems.
Knowledge
* Experience of Insurance, Business Insurance, Pet Insurance or
Travel Insurance
* Range of practical business analysis methodologies, frameworks,
tools & techniques
* Software development life cycle – especially iterative/incremental
methods such as Agile, DSDM
* Any knowledge of Swedish insurance market and or Swedish language
would also be a major plus point
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Devise innovative and practical solutions and processes to meet
evolving business needs.
* Identify all operational systems that require changes and document
detailed functional requirements to meet relevant standards and
timelines.
* Identify and define interface requirements between all systems
(including suppliers and external partners) to meet operational
and customer needs.
* Use business analysis techniques and tools proportionately to get
to a ‘good enough’ design to progress a project/task.
* Operate within available time and resources to balance optimal
solutions and find expedient ways to achieve outputs quickly.
* Identify and engage with stakeholders effectively and sensitively
to maintain accuracy and buy-in.
* Manage and evaluate feedback from conflicting business needs
(customer, business, technology) to devise clear outputs that are
based on majority fit and ‘good enough’.
* Apply critical thinking to enable the business to make informed
decisions about priorities and to assess the benefits, impact and
risks of changes.
* Connect design elements across multiple work streams or projects
to ensure the overall operating model is coherent.
* Create process map operational flows at multiple levels (overall
operating model, product-specific, function-specific) to meet
operational demands.
* Assess the impact on the existing operation of any given changes,
and provide recommendations and solutions to close gaps
identified.
* Work in collaboration with key design resource to ensure proposed
changes are coherent and to mitigate against any unintended
consequences.
* Ensure that new features and products are consistent with the
Product Roadmap and Systems Architecture, and contribute as
necessary to the evolution of this roadmap and architecture.
* Define outcomes and key metrics for building intelligence and
management information so that it is meaningful for the business.
* Define a system test plan and use cases in conjunction with the QA
& Test team to ensure appropriate testing is carried out and
evaluated.
* Plan and implement system training to ensure smooth
implementation, including identifying training needs, creating
staff training guides, delivering training to users on new or
changed processes and systems, and creating Frequently Asked
Questions.
* Provide regular reports to ensure internal and external
stakeholders are kept up-to-date with status.
* Act to identify and manage risks and issues in conjunction with
the Head of Programmes.
* Contribute to the ongoing evolution of company best practices for
business analysis and other processes.
Experience
* Use of a variety of practical business analysis methodologies,
frameworks, tools, techniques, and the software development life
cycle, and has applied these proportionately in BA or related
roles
* Working in business environments that have minimal structure and
are still evolving regarding programmes and delivery of change
* Experience of insurance retail products, systems and processes in
insurance companies or related businesses
Desirable experience includes:
* Digital and B2C businesses
* Start-up companies
* Technology companies
Education and Professional Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Desirable: BA Accreditations such as IIBA, PMI-BA, BCS BA Diploma
