Assistant Accountant

THE COMPANY:

A high end formal wear manufacturer based just outside Leeds City centre are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join their growing accounts team. Following recent investment in the wider group the finance functions of 3 companies will now be run from the leads office, new systems will be implemented in the near future which gives the successful candidate the opportunity to make this role their own in this growing business

THE JOB:

To assist in the preparation of month end accounts for Jaeger, Formal Tailors and Austin Reed in an accurate and timely manner.

Main Responsibilities:

• To oversee and ensure the cash books including the foreign currency accounts are posted to the nominal ledger by the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger Assistants.
• Maintain fixed asset registers for all companies.
• To update and post accruals and prepayments.
• To complete month end close of ledgers and run month end reports.
• To assist with completion of monthly overhead reports.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any anomalies.
• Raise manual invoices for inter-company recharges, commissions, staff uniforms (Retail) etc.
• Assist with the audit process and statutory accounts and tax return preparation.
• Complete National statistic reporting requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets.
• To complete ad hoc analyses and any other duties, including reception cover, to support the Group Accountant and Finance department as required.

THE PERSON:

Essential

• Minimum of 1 years' experience of accounting
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Excellent communication s skills - liaising at all levels throughout the business
• A flexible approach to work and the ability to work as part of a team.

Ideal

• AAT Studier / Early stages of ACCA or CIMA
