Client Details
This client is an acquisitive business listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Based in South West London, my client is looking to recruit an experienced Interim Group Head of Reporting and Tax.
Description
Interim Group Head of Reporting and Tax will be responsible for:
- Management of Annual and Quarterly Report processes including leading co-ordination of audit work (in collaboration with the CFO)
- Oversee Investor Communication in collaboration with CFO and Investor Relations Manager
- Management of the Group Consolidation Process (complex multi-jurisdiction group with over 60 legal entities)
- Management of process of subsidiary statutory reporting and co-ordination with auditors
- Management of group structure (in collaboration with CFO), including integration of acquired businesses and rationalisation of group structure to promote efficiency
- Oversight of the Group Tax function: tax compliance, tax planning, tax accounting, tax audit and transfer pricing. Taxes includes Income/Corporate tax, Betting duties, VAT, Employees taxes
- Updating key teams/individuals within the Group of any upcoming changes which may include the Audit Committee/Group Board of Directors/Exec Management
- Responsible for the calculation of Group tax provisions and production of tax disclosure notes using external advisers where required
- Oversight of the production of the individual tax returns across the Group, in particular the UK tax returns
- Development of internal knowledge relating to key territories by building and maintaining a team of internal/external local tax experts with the aim to ensure any tax exposure/risk is highlighted and managed
- Production and maintenance of a tax status risk register for all Group companies
- Supporting the business with various ad hoc projects which may include acquisitions/investments. Provide tax advice where required in relation to activities of the Group
- Build good working relationships with other departments to ensure Tax is considered whenever relevant. Departments would include, but not limited to, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Tech, Procurement and Strategy
- Proactive approach to possible changes in tax law that could affect any of the Group's operations
- Management of the Financial Reporting team and the Tax team
Profile
- Strong experience in the leadership of accounting teams and financial reporting
- A strong technical accountant with extensive IFRS and tax knowledge
- An excellent communicator, with the ability to manage more senior and junior partners. Working with Senior Executive team to interpret ongoing financial commitment
- Experienced in cross-border working, negotiating the nuances of an international team based in different locations, including travel where necessary
- Demonstrable experience of working in a performance-improvement environment
- Extensive year-end, month-end closing experience
- Exposure to an ERP system for financial accounting and G/L management
- ACA or equivalent qualification with relevant post-qualification experience of IFRS reporting and complex group environment
- Strong management experience - you will have previously managed a team of at least 5
- Excellent IT skills including intermediate to advanced Excel skills are a must
- Experience working in a global company dealing with multiple currencies will be beneficial
- Able to work with colleagues of all levels and personalities
- Ability to thrive in a highly pressured, fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Drive and a positive work attitude, including willingness to work longer hours during peak periods
