GiBe Finance are working with a dynamic, forward-thinking and progressive company close to Woking train station to recruit a Financial Analyst into their Commercial Finance team. The role gives an ambitious studier the opportunity to transition away from the repetitive month-end cycle and focus on working with Heads of Department to analyse their business units, whilst owning a c£150m P&L for the UK business themselves.

This a great opportunity for a confident, driven and well-articulated candidate to build on their business partnering skillsets and kick-start their commercial finance career, re-igniting any lost passion through tiresome month end cycles (personal month end involvement is less than 1 day per month.)

The Role

Ensure delivery of month-end & forecasting:

  • You will be working alongside the FP&A Manager, managing costs and reporting performance for internal stakeholders across the support functions (I.T, HR, Finance, General Management & Legal).
  • Collaborate with the financial accounting team to ensure accurate accrual and if required, identify data enhancements to improve analysis and insight.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packs to include variance analysis and relevant commentary for support functions and present these to the FP&A manager for the close meeting.
  • Analyse, review and challenge financial performance against targets.
  • Provide management information on a timely basis to support decision making process.
  • Production of accurate forecasts and budgets for short, medium and longer term performance using trend analysis and other overlays based on business understanding.
  • Manage monthly forecast process, modelling costs and identifying key sensitivities, risks and opportunities, presenting key trends and headlines to the FP&A manager.
  • Responsibility for reporting & forecasting UK headcount.
  • Consolidate UK forecast to include identifying causes of change vs prior forecast & prior year.
  • Preparation of reporting submissions for Group.

Ensure effective Business Partnering through:

  • Partner with the business leaders to review financial performance providing financial guidance where necessary to help make better decisions.
  • Delivering meaningful analysis which highlights opportunities to drive profitability through trend analysis & other KPI tracking.
  • Having awareness of business priorities and supporting the team in their efficient delivery.
  • Identifying business needs and providing solutions to maintain financial performance.
  • Ensuring that reporting is accurate and delivered to agree reporting deadlines.
  • Drive improved transparency and accountability over forecasting practices, with a robust framework for ongoing analysis.

Support improvement initiatives through:

  • Identifying areas for improvement that will result in increased efficiencies, productivity, controls and customer service within Commercial Finance.
  • Supporting the FP&A Manager to identify, develop and implement improvements within area of responsibility.
  • Ad hoc activities, supporting departmental need for ad-hoc reporting and presentations, including business reviews and management presentations.

Your Profile

  • Part Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience.
  • Have a commercial mind-set with the ability to understand issues from a business perspective.
  • Ability to speak their mind and not be afraid to push the departmental agenda in meeting with key stakeholders.
  • Have good communication skills and be able to work using their own initiative.
  • Previous experience of working in a business partnering environment an advantage.
  • Excellent Excel skills with the ability to process large volumes of data efficiently & accurately.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
  • An inquisitive nature with the ability to think beyond the status quo.
  • Positive attitude & a team player
