A Tax Analyst role at a large investment bank based in the City area.
Client Details
To assist the Head of Taxation and Tax Associate to ensure that the Bank is compliant with VAT rules and UK taxation and that the tax and VAT risk is optimised.
Description
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Assist with tax queries from from all areas of the Bank
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Assist with the identification and implementation of new tax legislation that impacts the Bank and keeping management informed accordingly
- Assist with the production of the Bank's London branch Corporation Tax and Bank Levy return and calculation of quarterly instalmentsAssisting with the maintenance and monitoring of London branch's Transfer pricing Policy, including adequacy of supporting documentation
- Preparation of the Bank and Building Society Interest return and FATCA/CRS returns
- Assist with production of quarterly HO reporting and tax provisioning
- Support the Head of Taxation and Tax Associate in handling European tax issues that affect the Continental offices
- Support for the Finance Department during busy times in reporting (normally at quarter end)
Key performance indicators
- VAT and Tax return work completed on a timely basis
- Providing advice to the business on a timely basis
- Internal reporting completed on a timely and accurate basis
Key Risk Indicators
- Late or inaccurate statutory returns could lead to penalties and interest
- Incorrect tax/VAT treatment could result in increased costs

Profile
Qualifications and Training:
- Qualified/Part qualified Accountant or Tax Accountant (ie CIMA, ACCA, ATT, CIOT) or seeking to study for CIOT
- Degree level 2:1 or above
Essential
- Good Spreadsheet skills
- Some understanding of tax concepts
- Strong numerical analysis and data interpretation
- Keen interest in maintaining knowledge of tax legislation changes
Desirable
- Experience in preparation of tax returns
- Knowledge of banking products and their operation from a tax perspective
- Understanding of Financial Accounting in a banking environment
- Experience in financial services industry
Job Offer
£30,000-£40,000 + Bonus and Benefits.
