The CU Office of Advancement manages and coordinates administrative functions to support the campus-based fundraising field staff. These functions include communications, database management, estate gift planning, gift processing, marketing, research and other services. These centralized services place the institution in an optimal position to attract substantial support from the philanthropic sector. This SeniorBusiness Analyst position provides strategic IT planning and consultation forCU Advancement offices, working closely with Central, Foundation, and campusoffices and service providers to analyze, recommend and implement appropriatesolutions. The Office of Advancement consist of the following departments: Alumni Relations, Corporate & FoundationRelations, Parent Giving, and Annual Giving. This position must understand the business needs and objectives ofadvancement activities to determine what IT services and applications functionscan/should be deployed to facilitate meeting those needs and objectives. Thisposition works closely with departmental and campus leadership, campus ITgovernance groups, and system-wide stakeholders, to determine what services areapplicable to meeting business IT needs. The Senior Business Analyst positionalso works within central Advancement, and collaboratively with central andCampus IT departments, to ensure the IT architecture and services, and overalluniversity context are properly considered in any proposed IT solution. The main focusfor this position will be to understand the business processes and technologylandscape of the Advancement Office and how to best utilize the functionalityin those applications. The initial assignment of this position will be to workon a holistic project to redesign workflow and systems for the business ofAdvancement within CU. This position isdirectly supervised by the Director of Technical Architecture. This positionwill exercise independent discretion and decision-making in determining how tomeet goals set by the Director. This position does not have any formalsupervisory responsibility, but may include peer development once the fullproject team is developed. TheSenior Business Analyst is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staffsystem. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities of this position include, butare not limited to: 35% - Performfunctional analysis and requirements definition for specific business and ITsolutions: Develop anynecessary requirements and specifications possibly including process flowmodels, use cases or user stories, data models, and UML diagrams that fullycommunicate requirements and conditions of satisfaction. 35% - Recommendsolutions for services and systems by working with stakeholders to establishneeds and objectives: Perform analysisthat considers the existing environment, the overall University business andtechnical environment, campus IT architecture, best practices from peerinstitutions and industry, and available technologies and services, then fullyarticulating and communicating solutions. Collaborate withcampus business leaders to establish and maintain business cases, cost models,and budgets that support IT directions. 20% - Monitormultiple ongoing projects and deployed services: Ensure projects continueto meet the established objectives and business needs within the establishedbudgets through a continual service improvement methodology. This includesleading deployment testing, problem resolution efforts and managingrelationships and service level performance of service providers – Universityand 3rd party vendors. Directtroubleshooting and support activities with customers. 10% -Professional development and participating in university- and campus-wide ITplanning efforts. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To be successful in this position, candidates will need thefollowing: Knowledge ofproject management best practices Knowledge of ITdata analysis Excellentjudgement and decision-making abilities Ability tointerpret and evaluate user requirements and produce and analyze data Ability to workwith tight deadlines and manage frequent requests from all levels of Advanceusers each having their own timelines and constraints. Effectivepresentation skills to clearly articulate technical and businessprocess-related concepts to groups and individuals with varying ranges oftechnical literacy. Skilled with effectivecommunication strategies, outreach and interaction with constituents,strengthen business relationships with all Advancement staff, Alumni Relationscolleagues, and business partners. Effectivewritten and oral communication skills and interpersonal/customer-relationsskills. Thisposition is located in Broomfield. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or a combination of education and experience as detailed below may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Five (5) years' of IT Business Analysis experience that includes: Development of high level strategy, business cases, process mapping, formal requirements specifications, design of complex systems with a demonstrated ability to translate them into solutions. Experience working in highly complex policy and organizational environments. Strong analytical experience in developing, testing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading complex application systems. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP, CCBA).
