Cranfield is a world-renowned, exclusively postgraduate University specialising in Creating Leaders in Technology and Management. The Research and Innovation Office supports researchers in working together to achieve excellence and impact in delivering the University’s vision for research and innovation.

The finance department is currently seeking two CCAB/CIMA qualified accountants (one full time and one part time 20 hours per week) with significant experience of working in a large complex organisation and/or Higher Education Institution.

These post holders will be responsible for overseeing the finances of the School’s Aerospace and Transport Themes.  This includes the production of budgets and forecasts, monitoring variance analysis and providing financial advice to the Directors of Theme and the School Head of Finance.

These positions would suit self-motivated, proactive and reliable individuals who are able to demonstrate they can work to strict deadlines and take responsibility for their own workload.  Good interpersonal skills and a “can do” attitude are essential as there will be frequent contact with customers and University staff.

To be successful in post the successful candidates must be able to build a deep understanding of the school’s analytical, information and professional finance support requirements to provide an extremely high level of professional finance support. This will include a suite of finance reports tailored to the School’s needs that are timely, highly professional, immaculately presented and accurate. It will also include ad-hoc reports of the same standard and general finance leadership, partnership and advice. The successful candidate must engage and partner with the School’s academic community and be an indispensable partner for Budget holders and Principal Investigators.

Experience of working with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word is essential as the work is mainly computer based.  Previous experience of computerised accounts systems is also essential, significant experience of the UNIT4 Business World (Agresso) system would be desirable.
