Compliance Associate
Actis is looking to recruit a Compliance Associate to take on a challenging and rewarding role. In this role you would be assisting the Firms Compliance Director in ensuring that the compliance function meets the needs of the business across multiple jurisdictions. Day to day this will involve ensuring PAD, ABC, gift and other requests received in the Compliance Mailbox are being appropriately addressed as well providing advice on both existing and new policies and procedures and drafting and implementing policy around regulatory changes. The successful candidate will also be taking the lead on compliance monitoring and reporting and providing training to new joiners in relation to the businesses' approach to compliance. The role also entails taking responsibility for the administrative requirements of the compliance department.
This role has considerable long term potential to develop into a larger opportunity, with scope to advise the business on a range of regulatory matters from projects through to driving and implementing new policy.
Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of several day to day compliance activities across Actis's offices including:
- Responding to queries received in the Compliance mailbox
- Personal Account Dealing Policy
- External Service Provider Policy
- Gifts Policy
- Flows of Confidential Information
- Management of compliance related logs and registers (such as gifts register, non-Actis roles, political contributions etc)
- Play an integral role in responding to inbound CDD queries from multiple jurisdictions and work closely with CC's service centre in Delhi
- Compliance Monitoring programme
- Taking a lead on the relationship with UK based compliance consultants
- Coordinating the annual review of the compliance monitoring programme and taking a lead on implementing the programme together with the external compliance consultants including overseeing input required from other teams such as legal, funds admin (in Delhi) and IDG
- Ensuring timely completion of the compliance report by the consultants
- Compliance Calendar
- Managing Pilot, the Compliance Central Calendar, and ensuring it is up to date and reflects compliance requirements
- Take a lead in ensuring regular compliance tasks are carried out as per the annual calendar including sending out of briefing notes, risk management cycle, reviews of policies and procedures, production of reports such as the Compliance reports, CASS and MLRO reports
- Ensuring appropriate record keeping within Pilot
- Compliance training and declarations
- Ensuring new joiners receive induction training and that their declarations are reviewed for material responses and recorded where appropriate
- Taking ownership of the preparation and deployment of the annual training and declarations roll-out
- Client Assets
- Updating of share register to reflect physical assets maintained by firm and sent back to relevant company secretary
- Ensuring the Funds Admin team in Delhi have real time data for completion of mandatory reconciliations
- Liaise with the Funds Admin team in Delhi to ensure the CASS RP is up to date and available as required on a regular basis
- EMIR
- Managing the registration and validity of LEI's for relevant firms and funds
- Working with the IDG Lawyer and The Funds Admin team in Delhi ensuring our Schedule of AIFS is up to date
- US Related Compliance
- Managing the process and diary with regard to lobbying activities and ensuring state filings are made in a timely manner
- Preparing data for submissions of Form ADV and liaising with IDG and Funds Admin as appropriate.
- FCA Related Filings
- Maintaining internal approved persons register and sharing it with IT and HR as appropriate
- Preparing FCA Forms for joiners/leavers or changes in roles
- Preparing the Close Links and Controllers reports with the compliance consultants
- Preparing the Rep-Crim report
- Submitting Annex IV reports
- Providing group secretarial support, including:
- Maintaining the authorised signatory lists for each of the Actis group entities
- Overseeing of the relationship with UK and global group company service providers
- Assisting with the establishment or closure of Actis group companies/offices
- Preparing ad hoc corporate approvals for Actis group UK companies
- Assisting with the annual process of approving the Actis group company financial statements
- Liaising with third party providers:
- Be the primary point of contact for CC's Delhi Service Centre
- Be the primary point of contact for Thomson Reuters
- Be the primary point of contact for Compliance Consultants
- Be the primary point of contact for Actis group company administrators
- Participate in Audit and Depositary meetings for the UK and fulfil relevant document requests
- Assisting with other ad hoc compliance tasks as required.

Experience and Knowledge
- Understanding of EU AML regulations with practical experience of implementing them (preferably in emerging market jurisdictions)
- Knowledge and understanding of Private Equity (preferred)
- Previous experience with in-house systems
- An understanding of corporate governance procedures (preferred)
