Optimum Recruitment Group is recruiting exclusively for a manufacturing business in the Wakefield area who is seeking to appoint an experienced Commercial Accountant to control costs and help drive profitability through the business. The successful candidate will be either qualified or qualified by experience and have manufacturing and costing exposure.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the role requires ownership for effective cost–accounting across the manufacturing site whilst closely managing the interface with the finance function. There will be key involvement with estimating/pricing & cost control, managing expenditure against budgets, managing stock, reporting on sales accuracy and customer margin analysis.
Key duties include:
Stock Management
* Manage the month end stock take for raw materials, finished goods and WIP
* Report on the ageing of raw material stock and improve stock turnaround to avoid stock write down
* Prepare and report on analysis by customer
Salary Accuracy
* Monitor origination costs and ensure these are fully reconciled and charged to the customer
* Monitor and report on transport reconciliation, analyse by customer and ensure re-charges are made where appropriate
Customer Analysis
* Make sure all production costs are allocated to a job
* Implement cost capture for core and other costs
* Reconcile the allocated costs to the accounts and review the under/over allocation with a view to minimise the unallocated costs
* Report on the monthly customer margins, reconciling it back to the accounts
* Review actual v estimated margins and work with the sales and operations teams to drive improvements
Projects
* Work with the Finance Director to deliver profit improving projects
* Work with the Finance Director to improve the business information to give greater insight into the activities of the business
