An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to support the Financial Cycle Team, which is responsible for overseeing the budgeting, monitoring and year end processes for Solihull Council. This is a fixed term contract / secondment for 12 months (with the potential to extend to up to 18 months by mutual consent).

You will play a key role within the Financial Cycle team, providing high quality VAT advice and support, delivering a high profile project in the production of the Council’s 2018/19 Accounting Statement and supporting the accountancy service provided to the North Solihull Partnership. You will also provide other support to the Financial Cycle Team managers in line with divisional priorities.

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant, proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and financial systems and will have:

  • Extensive recent experience of providing accurate and reliable VAT advice and support, ideally within a local government environment,
  • The ability and  technical knowledge to interpret and report complex financial information,
  • Experience of year-end accounting closedown and producing accounting statements based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).

    Reporting directly to the Financial Cycle Team managers, the role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your financial and management accounting skills in a supportive working environment.
