Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant will report to the International Controller located in London with exposure to the corporate headquarters accounting organization in the United States. He/she will be part of a high-performing team and will be expected to lead, take ownership of his/her areas of responsibility and ensure accurate and timely completion of company reporting requirements.

Essential Functions/ Job Duties

• Responsible for month-end close process of UK operations including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and intercompany activity with European offices
• Maintain financial records that support both US GAAP and local statutory requirements
• Ownership of inventory accounting including standards setting, perpetual reconciliations with third party logistics organizations, plan and execution of physical inventory counts, and establishment of appropriate excess & obsolete reserves
• Ownership of intercompany accounting activities including billings, reconciliation and settlement
• Ensuring local VAT and payroll tax compliance obligations are met and provide income tax support to Corporate Tax department
• Work closely with cross functional teams to research and analyze variances vs. plan/forecast and action accordingly
• Ensure compliance of key accounting controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes
• Critically review current accounting and reporting processes to identify ways to improve and automate
• Support of quarterly reviews and annual audits by internal and external auditors
• Key member of team responsible for financial systems implementation and maintenance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• At least 3 years public accounting experience or 5+ years in a similar accounting role
• Understanding of US and UK GAAP
• Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system and strong Excel skills
• Ability to work in a team environment across various departments
• Attention to detail as well as analytical and problem solving skills
• Desire for continued career progression
• Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Willingness to respond to changing business needs of a growing company
• Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley desirable
