In-house Tax opportunity within a FTSE listed organisation.

The Group Tax team is part of the organisations Finance Technical team and is responsible for compliance with its obligations in respect of tax and tax risk and oversees tax risk globally.

Description

  • Develop a clear understanding of business needs and create a collaborative approach to assess and proactively educate all stakeholders in identifying and mitigating the operational tax risks associated with the groups business and investment solutions;
  • Produce and champion risk assurance framework covering global transactional and operational tax risk together with stakeholders across the business to assess and improve compliance with FATCA, the OECD's Common Reporting Standard, FTT, and other operational taxes and duties impacting on the group investments
  • Produce and champion best practice processes and controls to facilitate and streamline relief at source and documentation processes around operational tax assumptions relating to internal and external investment solutions and to ensure that all client reporting is compliant with respect to transactional and operational taxes;
  • Provide lead tax technical support and assistance on operational and transactional tax developments related to the insurance and asset management sectors, including developing the operational and transactional tax skills of more junior tax team members, devising support and training for customer facing staff and supporting wider tax team as required.
  • Monitor and communicate the impact of changes in legislation and engage fully with decision makers/stakeholders in order to flag risks and provide firm direction at the earliest stage possible in the development/implementation process.

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Accountant (ACA/ACCA) or Qualified tax professional (CTA or equivalent) or comparable qualification through experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FATCA and AEOI requirements and of OECD and HMRC practice;
  • Understanding of the financial services industry, products and key drivers
  • Ability to understand impact of new operational tax developments and disseminate effectively
  • Ability to identify, interpret and communicate key risk issues to non-specialists

Experience:

  • Prior experience of operational taxation, gained either in UK financial services industry and/or a big accounting firm.
  • Comprehensive and in-depth experience of tax risk management, preferably gathered as part of an in-house tax team.
