Your role
Advising on the legal frameworks for trading financial products, including prime brokerage, custody, OTC derivatives, exchange traded derivatives, repurchase transactions and securities financing. You will be drafting and negotiating master agreements for each of these financial products (ISDA, CSA, GMRA, GMSLA, ETD Clearing Agreement), including bespoke master agreements derivatives linked to syndicated loans and debt capital market transactions.
Other responsibilities will include:
• The entire documentary process: preparation of first drafts; negotiating terms; obtaining approvals; coordinating among business, collateral management, legal, credit, tax, group treasury etc.
• Advising on appropriate documentation and process to protect the bank's security position and obtaining enforceability opinions form leading law firms on capacity, collateral and set-off rights on the insolvency counterparties.
• Prioritizing matters on a continuous basis with business managers and risk managers.
• Working in a collegiate manner with varies functions within and outside legal (such as business, credit collateral and tax), in the process of structuring high quality client advice.
• Managing external legal services to the Bank
• Other responsibilities include participating in global sub-committees and projects to ensure contribution from Australia and knowledge of other regions
• Responsible for updating master agreement templates in Australia

Based in Sydney, you will be joining a regional team advising on the legal frameworks for trading financial products, including prime brokerage, custody, OTC derivatives, exchange traded derivatives, repurchase transactions and securities financing.
Your experience and skills
You will have 5+ years post qualification legal experience, gained in a law firm or in-house corporate role, wishing to gain a broader exposure to legal services within the local operations of a leading global bank. It is essential that you have previous experience with OTC Derivatives and ISDA. Prime Brokerage experience would be an advantage.
You will be a good communicator and a strong team player with an ability to provide practical solutions to the business. You are able to work independently with initiative and under pressure.
