St Vincent's Pathology is a private practice offering diagnostic testing to both inpatients of St. Vincent's Private Hospitals located in Fitzroy, East Melbourne and Kew, St Vincent's Public Hospital Fitzroy as well as private Pathology Collection Centres located across Metropolitan Melbourne. St Vincent's Pathology has a high reputation for quality and service in the provision of comprehensive diagnostic pathology testing
About the Role
This challenging position offers the opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic laboratory assistant / data entry clerk to work in our pathology area. You will be required to perform the pre-processing of samples received at the reception area of Pathology. You may also be required to work on a rotating roster, including overnight.
Duties
- Pre-processing of received samples
- Aliquot body fluids from a primary sample so that specimens may be distributed to various workstations
- Perform basic laboratory work in diagnostic laboratory
- Performance of alpha and numeric data entry
- Scanning and filing request forms
- Receiving telephone enquiries
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Victorian Certificate of Education (or equivalent)
- Basic laboratory skills such as configuration and aliquoting
- Prior experience in data entry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high rate of accuracy in a busy environment
- Driver's licence is essential
