About Department
The Department of Neurosurgery is part of the Centre of Clinical Neurosciences and Neurological Research at St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne. The unit's focus is on complete patient care through incorporating multidisciplinary clinics. Our complete patient care model involves preadmission clinics, clinical pathways in relation to the patient's admission for operation or investigation, as well as patient discharge with appropriate support service and/or referral to rehabilitation or palliative care services if appropriate. The multidisciplinary clinics include neuro-oncology, skull base, neurovascular and pituitary.
About the Role
The Neurosurgery department currently has one sessional appointment available for an appropriately qualified and trained neurosurgeon for 10.5 hours per week. The Neurosurgeon is responsible for the provision of a high standard of care and is responsible for the services he/she provides in the Unit including inpatient and, diagnostic services, and teaching, research and quality improvement activities.
Duties
- Responsible for the delivery of clinical services as delegated by the Head of Unit.
- Assist with the implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
- Participate in the annual performance appraisal with Unit Director
- Participate in the on-call roster
- Participate in achieving department activity and quality targets including wait list targets within the allocated financial budget.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent
- Fellowship of The Royal Australian College of Surgeons
- Full medical registration with APHRA
