About The Role: This role is based in the Securities Lending Trade Support team in Limerick, reporting to the Team Leader. The team provides equity and fixed income trade support services for Northern Trust's Securities Lending program.  The team's main areas of responsibilities involve: settlement of EMEA Equity and Fixed Income lending activity reallocation and recall of loans related to client sales or account restructures managing failing client sales related to lent positions including potential buy-in situations. The Senior Analyst role involves daily liaison with our SL Trading and Collateral Management desks, counterparts at our borrowers (typically global prime brokers) and the local sub-custodians / central securities depositories. The role requires an individual with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.  There is a strong emphasis on risk identification and reduction. Qualities required include a strong attention to detail, a logical mind, and strong communication skills. Principal Responsibilities: Through effective liaison with the relevant internal partners (e.g. trading and collateral desks) and external counterparts (e.g. borrowers and sub-custodians) ensure Securities Lending trades settle on a timely basis. Manage failing settlements through close liaison with the Trading Desk, Trade Support and other relevant operational areas. Monitor client sales and breach levels and act to ensure timely loan reallocation / recall. Look to provide assistance where possible to team colleagues in times of high volumes. Demonstrate flexibility through cross training / support production activity with the SL Collateral team Ensure daily KPIs are met. Track and resolve cash, stock and suspense exceptions relating to trade support activity. Identify potential risk situations, consider solutions and ensure appropriate escalation to line management where necessary. Through your daily responsibilities, demonstrate accountability and attention to detail. Look for opportunities to improve the process and make constructive suggestions towards achieving efficiencies. Provide appropriate, accurate input to management reporting. Help to foster a positive team spirit and environment.  Actively participate in team meetings. Skills / Experience Required: Experience in a banking / custody operations environment is beneficial. Some settlements experience of Crest / Euroclear and International Equities is beneficial. Experience in Securities Finance / Securities Lending Operations advantageous. Strong team player, self-starter, flexible, with the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Able to set priorities and manage deadlines, escalating issues where necessary. Ability to grasp new concepts quickly. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.  This role requires the ability to deal confidently and articulately with external counterparties. Ability to grasp new concepts quickly. An eye for accuracy with strong attention to detail. Strong questioning skills to determine nature of a problem and assess implications. Able to work in a changing environment, recognise opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions. Good PC skills, in particular, Excel.
