This is a great role withing a quirky arts/ sculptor studio. It is a stand-alone and autonomous role within accounts, with one part-time Finance Director sitting above you. You will sit within the wider team of 12 individuals in the art studio and be responsible for end-to-end accounts.

Description

Your key responisibilties will include:

Book-keeping

  • Input of all purchase invoices
  • Input of all sales invoices
  • Ensure trade creditors reconcile to purchase ledger and creditor accounts to supplier statements
  • Ensure trade debtors reconcile to sales ledger
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts across 3 entities
  • Intercompany account reconciliation
  • Payments

  • Liaison with relevant studio staff on invoices received and follow-up on the approval/validity for payment
  • Process all payments within creditor terms and according to company policy
  • Management accounts

  • Credit Control
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Provision of cashflow information to director
  • Deferred income schedules and reconciliation of BS account
  • Preparation of prepayment and accrual schedules, posting of journals and reconciliation to BS
  • Analyse P&L expense categories to ensure accuracy of management account information
  • Miscellaneous

  • Maintain relationship with company accountants and ensure flow of information
  • Preparation of the quarterly VAT returns, monthly EC sales lists and Intrastats
  • Ongoing monitoring of export deadlines and the associated supporting documentation (90 day rule) for VAT purposes
  • Collate information required for
    Proprietor's personal tax return
    HMRC queries
    Ad hoc requests from accountants
    Maintenance of petty cash and ensure its reconciliation to bank and BS
    Monitor and maintain records for all company credit cards and debit cards
    Analysis of proprietors ad hoc expenditure and compensation when required
    Staff expenses
    Ad hoc tasks regarding payments and financial matters in respect of proprietor's personal requirements
  • Profile

    As the successful candidate for this role you will be;

    • Qualified by Experience or ACA, CIMA, ACCA qualified;
    • Able to hit the ground running having demonstrated past experience in similar roles;
    • Have knowledge of tax deductibility of common/standard types of expenditure;
    • Be highly organised
    • High standards of written communication: clear and concise with good spelling and grammar
    • Familiarity with Mac, Xero and Filemaker are advantageous
