Senior Finance Manager
Role This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide support to our organisation's finance team in Dublin and Belfast. Depaul is a values-led organisation working with a number of services throughout Dublin and Belfast. This role will report directly to the Director of Finance and Risk and will be responsible for providing day-to-day management of the organisational finance function as directed by the Director of Finance and Risk and the organisational strategic plan. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse team of talented individuals. Key Areas of Responsibility Work as part of the overall Finance and IT departments. Work closely with other functional departments including HR, Services, Fundraising, Administration and Business development You will be responsible for implementing strategic plans for the department in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Risk. Such plans include strong financial governance, financial reporting, the development and implementation of procurement policy, and compliance with donor reporting requirements You will lead the line management responsibility for the completion of roles and tasks within Finance and IT Responsible for reporting on operational issues to Senior Management Group (SMG) and participating in the SMG as appropriate Participate and lead in various forums involving Finance & IT and including Fundraising and Communications, Services, Development and HR Finance Day to Day duties To prepare and finalise the financial reporting functions for both companies (supported by departmental resources). Final reports will be reviewed and signed off by the Director of Finance and Risk as applicable. These reports are for multiple audiences (Board, statutory funders, internal project services, internal support departments) To co-ordinate the operational tasks of the finance teams in ROI and NI in an efficient, effective and timely manner, ensuring all financial governance practices are followed To oversee IT functions in ROI and NI by means of regular reporting to you from the IT manager. To lead on good practice finance procedures and finance manuals as directed by the Director of Finance and Risk To manage the internal audit function for both companies as directed by the Director of Finance and Risk Responsible for the production of financial reports for all external funders - supported by the finance department, as directed by the Director of Finance and Risk. This will include close liaison with Services and Fundraising departments. To manage effectively the Finance and IT team members in the operation of their tasks, some of which are direct line management responsibilities To lead and complete the preparation of annual financial budgets in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Risk To lead and complete the preparation of year-end Financial statements for statutory audit in accordance with SORP (or applicable) for charitable companies for the Director of Finance and Risk to review and sign of To lead on the financial function within the overall strategic plan for fundraising To manage the organisational liaison with other departments and appropriate personnel. This may involve direct contact with services projects or other function heads To manage the monthly and weekly cyclical reporting tasks of the department in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Risk To oversee the payroll functions both north and south using appropriate department resources and in conjunction with HR. To manage the processing of funding receipts and liaise with our funders in respect of same. In conjunction with the Director of Finance and Risk to manage the pension auto enrolment process and to work closely with the NI team members and HR on this In conjunction with the Director of Finance and Risk to represent the organisation in correspondence and meetings with banking and other organisations. IT responsibilities To line manage the IT manager To ensure IT infrastructure is correctly provisioned and implemented for new and existing services To monitor and implement the renewal of IT services To maintain oversight and control of the IT budget To prepare reports for the organisation and for the board General To deal with ad-hoc queries from staff, volunteers and suppliers To assist the Director of Finance and Risk in the production of Ad Hoc reports when requested To lead in the preparation and implementation of financial policies and procedures To be responsible for the collation and filing of financial documents To carry out all duties with due regard for all Depaul Policies and Procedures To carry out any other duties commensurate with the post and the needs of the organisation Case management of all applicable insurance issues and other complex cases The overall focus of this role is in ensuring both good financial governance and value for money. Person Requirements A professional accountancy qualification and/or a third level degree specialising in finance or accountancy At least five years working in a finance role of which at least two years have been at finance management level, ideally in an NGO setting Experience developing and managing line staff Competence using all Microsoft systems, in particular advanced Excel skills and accountancy packages. An understanding of the issues facing homeless people is also required.
