Senior Financial Accountant

Location – The Hive, Manchester

Salary: GBP30,884 to GBP41,290 per annum plus excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours per week

We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to lead and manage the day to day work of the Financial Accounts team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Accountant you will oversee the accounts payable and receivable teams. You will also work closely with other colleagues in the Finance team and across the organisation.

You will be accountable for overseeing and authorising the weekly payment run process for grants, purchase ledger and expenses. You will manage the month–end closing timetable and review and sign off relevant month–end reconciliations, oversee and authorise weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts and treasury/cash requirements.

You will manage the process for the preparation of Year End accounts and coordinate as necessary the internal and external audit work and act on recommendations as appropriate.

You will enjoy looking for ways to improve existing financial processes and develop new processes as required by changes to policies and procedures etc. You will also have strong finance systems and reporting experience, ideally with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.

We are looking for someone with solid people management skills who provide coaching, support and guidance to the team and colleagues across the organisation.

To succeed in the role, you will hold a professional financial qualification, either Qualified AAT, or part–qualified CCAB as a minimum You will have proven experience of financial accounting and a good understanding of purchase ledger, and sales ledger in a medium or large organisation. You will also have strong technical financial accounting knowledge including IFRS and/or charities SORP.

You will also have experience of the preparing and reviewing complex reconciliations in a medium or large organisation and experience of using a range of financial accounting systems and reporting packages.

Your excellent influencing and interpersonal skills, with a track record in developing professional and personal credibility with colleagues at all levels within and outside an organisation, will be coupled with experience of providing detailed and ongoing information, advice and guidance to a range of audiences.
