Payroll Manager

A Watford based PAYE Umbrella Company are looking for a Payroll Manager to work in their Head office. Due to the location, you will need your own transport.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be leading a team of up to12 employees.

The key responsibilities are:

Managing the day to day operational payroll including employee timesheets and expense records.
Overseeing production of payslips and P45's.
Preparation of BACs files, updating in–house control sheets and raising invoices.
Manage the payroll team including all aspects of team and individual performance
Support recruitment of new team members
Manage the payroll system administration and actively making recommendations for improvement in processes and/or systems where needed.
Completion of end of year statutory returns – providing analysis on payroll data (starters, leavers and personal changes)
Additional duties related to the operational function or management of the team, such as supporting training needs, documenting processes or change and supporting Head of Operations
This role will suit someone with

At least 5 years' experience at a manager or Team leader level, with 2 years' experience within payroll or umbrella payroll industry
Strong communication skills, ability to carry out 1–2–1 performance and developmental reviews and equally represent the team during wider business meetings and/or interactions
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential
Good operational management skills – An ability to set up and manage systems and processes, work under pressure and to strict deadlines
Excellent Time Management Skills;
A team player with a focus on quality and professionalism through team working and the ability to motivate others
An ability to work independently, learn and adapt to change quickly and positively
PC literate with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience of administering finance procedures, raising & validating invoices
Must have a flexible attitude to working hours as the role does include at least one late night a week to 7pm
