Robert Half have partnered with a 3rd sector organisation for the appointment of an analytically focused Finance Manager. The post holder will be a member of the finance team reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, supporting key projects to deliver objectives, equipping budget holders to understand and respond to financial challenges and ensuring that the Chief Financial Officer and Governing Body receive accurate and timely information.

Key Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be required to communicate and provide complex information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including:
  • Finance Team members
  • Commissioning Managers & Senior Commissioning Managers
  • Internal and external auditors
  • Contractors, including CSU and SBS
  • Senior finance staff in other internal and external organisations.
  • Local Authority


  • Responsible for providing lead finance support for a number of defined contracts.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager in the reporting of financial performance against contracts, Identifying cost pressures and financial risks, forecasting spend and working with commissioning managers to take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Provide detailed finance support to the development, assessment and monitoring of acute sector Improving Value Schemes projects, by working with managers to evaluate the schemes and to report on those in place.
  • Hold regular meetings with budget holders to discuss financial performance, identifying areas of concern, providing challenge and advice, ensuring strong financial management and control.
  • Monthly financial monitoring of various contracts including month end reporting, the production of working papers, variance analysis, forecasting and journal input into the general ledger.
  • Undertake financial analysis and investigation to support understanding of the financial position relating to the individual contracts and budgets.
  • Attend the monthly Finance Information Group (FIG) meetings and Contract Review Meetings.
  • Design, create and manipulate spreadsheets for monitoring and analyzing a range of complex financial information, to monitor trends and to calculate and forecast future income, expenditure and cash requirements.
  • Contribute to annual planning and budget setting by modelling and calculating financial requirements.


Your Profile
  • AAT Qualified or Qualified by experience
  • Experience with a non-profit organisation is preferred
  • Experience in contractual analysis is preferred
