Description
- preparing management accounts and financial reports and cash flow forecasts
- overseeing cash flow and general financial management
- preparation of annual budgets
- balancing and reconciling office and client bank accounts to SRA standards
- completing and maintaining records of the firm's financial transactions
- preparation of VAT accounts and return
- overseeing and implementing employee payroll functions
- authorising and paying invoices
- supervising officer accounts assistants
- administration of the firm's pension schemes and insurances
- liaising with the firm's external accountants in connection with audit and the production of the firm's annual accounts
- ensuring that all of the firm's financial actions and procedures meet the requirements business Accounts Rules
- supervising the investment of client funds where appropriate
Profile
The successful candidate will have the following:
- self-starting, self-organised good time manager
- the ability to prepare timely monthly management accounts and meaningful financial reports
- ability to act as the firm's Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA)
- excellent team working skills and ability to contribute to effective strategic and operational decision-making
- excellent communication skills to include the ability to communicate with senior staff and partners in order to ensure compliance with SRA standards and the firm's stated policies and the achievement of the firm's financial objectives
- sound working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and GAAP
- sound working knowledge of appropriate software packages, mainstream financial reporting systems, forecasting models, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, the Internet and computerised management reporting
- flexible and having familiarity with various solicitors' practice management systems
- the ability to create and implement custom computerised management reports
