Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for managing all areas relating to financial reporting,  including budget preparation and analysis, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure preparation of timely financial statements; financial accounting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Government statutory requirements and all accounting internal controls. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Ensures the timely delivery of monthly, quarterly and year end reports Monitors and analyses department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Responds to inquiries regarding financial results from Financial Controller and other managers. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives and monitor and advice on the progress to enhance the professional development of the staff. Constantly assess the workflow in the department and develop and implement new procedures to enhance the workflow when required. Participates in the preparation of the annual budgets and long-range financial projections.  Monitors company performance against budget and advises on significant variances. Participates in the preparation of the Company Strategic Plan. Participates in the management of the cash resources and ensures the timeliness of settlement of financial obligations to creditors and collections from debtors. Liaises with the relevant company personnel, accordingly Ensures the preparation and delivery of audited financial statements in a timely manner to meet annual report deadlines and maintain compliance with statutory requirements. Ensures all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times. Collect and collate all necessary documentation in readiness and preparation of company tax return. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE Professional Accounting Qualification ACCA; CPA; MBA/M.Sc. (Finance) Excellent time management and analytical skills A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar capacity preferably within commercial operation. Specific knowledge and experience in the use of ACCPAC and MS office software Extensive experience in planning, budgeting and forecasting Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: The individual must be: The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines The ability to organize all resources to work toward and meet deadlines A high affinity for and ability to interface with personnel at all levels on an ongoing basis The ability to read, assimilate and communicate technical information of a financial nature to team members at all levels. Strong planning and project management skills Sound knowledge of budget preparation and management. Sound knowledge of financial management and audit practices. Working knowledge of computerized Financial Management systems and other information systems.
