Primary Objective:

The Director of Events leads the Events team in delivering an approved program of international and national sporting, lifestyle and entertainment events. This position assists the Chief of Operations to manage a range of complex stakeholder relationships, ensuring that events are successfully staged and stakeholder and community expectations are met.

Context Statement:

Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) deliver national and international sporting, lifestyle and entertainment events for Territorians. The delivery is often undertaken in partnership with other event delivery stakeholders and requires a high level communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work to a tight deadline. Considerable out of normal work hour's activity is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead events staff and activities to ensure that the NTMEC's objectives are achieved and events successfully delivered.
2. Provide direct business and operational expertise to events staff in the contracting and delivery of sporting, lifestyle and entertainment events.
3. Provide specialist, current, best practise advice to the Chief of Operations on holistic event delivery and management.
4. In collaboration with other key stakeholders ensure that effective marketing and communication plans are in place for each event.
5. Lead the risk management process ensuring all mitigation strategies are implemented and reported against.
6. Collect and analyse information to prepare post event evaluation and forecasts for future events.
7. Strategically review events with a view to updating key documentation and processes, ultimately leading to refinement of event delivery.
