Youth Mental Health Team

This role presents an opportunity to undertake innovative and exciting work with a focus on early intervention in the treatment of mental health problems. As part of a supportive team environment you will undertake care coordination of young people aged 16-24.

The Youth MHS provides intensive, assertive mental health outreach via assessment, treatment and support for young people who are at moderate to high risk due to their mental health issues. The Youth MHS works with young people at early stages of their episode with a developmental focus; given the likelihood their mental health is significantly impacting on their family, peer relationships and longer term prognosis.

The Youth team are seeking applications for a full time Mental Health Clinician (RN2/AHP2). Experience in care coordination is essential and working with young people is desirable. The position will be based at Marion and Noarlunga GP Plus. Working with us, you will have opportunities to undertake further training and research.

For appointment as an AHP, you will hold an appropriate qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology and be eligible for membership with the relevant professional association. For appointment as an RN, you will be registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold a current practicing certificate along with a qualification in Mental Health practice. Demonstrating previous experience in the mental health field and in working with young people, you will possess sound clinical skills and knowledge of therapeutic techniques for young people and their families. You must be capable of working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will equip you to interact effectively with consumers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
