Shell China Trader Development Programme

Shell China are looking for high potential talents who’ve gained some valuable commercial experience to join our Shell China Trader Development Programme (TDP), where you'll train on an international placement before returning to China on completion of the programme.

The TDP could equip you to work in one of the world’s most entrepreneurial and exhilarating professional environments.

You don’t need trading experience. Your degree is probably in economics, finance, marketing, engineering or a similarly numerate discipline.

You probably work in finance, accountancy, banking, FinTech, in a trading environment or perhaps in a refinery. We’re also keen to hear from people currently in an entrepreneurial, tech or start-up setting or with energy experience. That said, we’re open-minded. If you have the personal qualities we’re looking for and natural numeracy, don’t be deterred from talking to us.

The Shell TDP is a dynamic, individualized Programme like no other. Typically, it takes 2-3 years to complete but no two trainees follow the same route. We’ll assess your strengths, weaknesses, experience and aptitude and then tailor a rotational Programme that allows you to develop the competences you need –both to meet the requirements of the trading desk you’re assigned to today and to be an accomplished, all-round trader tomorrow.

You will start your role from 1 of these 3 following locations: London, UK; Houston, USA; Singapore. This isn’t an opportunity for Chinese nationals with ambitions to build a career overseas, it’s part of the deal that, at the end of the TDP, you return to China and start working for Shell there. However, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain some international work experience to then take home.
 
Armed with a variety of new skills, you will help us to shape a new approach to trading in China. You will be setting the pace and changing the face of energy trading in one of our most dynamic and demanding markets – clearly, there is huge scope for you to make an impact.
 
Who We Are Looking For?

We are looking for Chinese talents with 2 - 5 years working experience, with a strong potential & motivation to become a trader, and willing to stay in China mainland for long-term career development.

• Professional proficiency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin);
• Base country: China Mainland;
• 2-5 years’work experience; 
• Clear motivation towards becoming a trader
• ACCA preferred

Whilst energy trading is a hugely dynamic and commercially challenging environment, there’s no room here for big egos or uncompromising characters.
