As a Commercial Finance Business Partner, you will support/challenge your business function. The role should create value by improving the quality of information and decision support to the heads of business and ensure that the business strategy is delivered with the highest financial benefit

Client Details

My client are a £120m turnover, family owned manufacturing business based in South Bristol. They have significant growth plans and are looking to drive this through a finance restructure whereby specialist, highly commercial business partners will be aligned with different business areas to support decision making through insight and analysis

This is a blank sheet of paper; there are currently no Finance Business Partners in the Group, so you will be fully responsible (with the functional head, the CFO and the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis for scoping, implementing and leading a business partnering process for your function/subsidiary for this c£120m turnover multi-site family business.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial leadership, relevant insight and challenge in determining and delivering the strategic business direction
  • Review and develop options / alternatives to improve business performance and bridge gaps between current and desired financial performance (in support of the forecasting/planning process)
  • Stimulate best practice and alignment across the function and the wider organisation and support the delivery of the corporate plans and strategy
  • Act as a catalyst in driving forward initiatives critical to delivering the strategy (e.g. system improvements, cost
  • optimisation, margin delivery, profit maximisation etc.)
  • Ownership of the Plan, the Budget & the Forecast for your part(s) of business and develop the business knowledge and relationships to efficiently support and challenge business performance/assumptions and ultimately deliver the business plans
  • Work closely with the Group Financial Controller to continuously review and challenge management reports provided by the team; support the process of continually improvement
  • Assess commercial viability of investment decisions, articulate financial risks and opportunities and support post-investment appraisal of business initiatives
  • Develop and use innovative commercial solutions to maximise financial return
  • Drive the development and implementation of priority projects, identify continual improvement opportunities and help to maximise profits whilst understanding and managing risk
  • This role is a key part of the functional management team that is required to help to drive better decision-making and ultimately better operational and financial performance.

Profile

Desired candidate profile:

  • Strong academic profile
  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong in the art and science of financial planning and its application to a business and operations
  • Strong reporting systems knowledge
  • Successful change management / financial transformation experience
  • Strong Excel complex modelling skills
  • A developing leadership profile; confident presenting at senior levels
